Negative leadership

Exodus 1:8 “Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, who knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, ‘Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.’ Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. He was grieved because of the children of Israel.”

I believe that the new king was envious of the Israelites from the onset. Before the Lord showed His mighty hand in Exodus chapter 8, the king’s envy grew strong and he had a bad mindset towards them. 

The question is why? Did he have to know what Joseph did for his people before he would be wise to know the right thing to do as a king for their numerous increase in size and strength? I would say the king had a spoilt mind from the onset before God visibly showed his mighty hand to the Egyptians and the Israelites.

Exodus 1:13-14 KJV

“And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: and they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.”  

The sentence “they had no mercy on them” would let you know that the king and his members began their hardened mindset before the Lord hardened the king’s heart not to let the Israelites go freely so His mighty right hand will be revealed. proverb 15:11

Like I would say, the free will God gave us we do not utilize it for good but most times for bad deeds because we feel entitled to only experience good from others but don’t feel entitled to be good or give good to others. 

If the king could critically think about the negative aspect, why could he not think of the positive outcome and work toward it? What stopped the king from making findings about how the Israelites came to be and how best to accept them etc.?

“Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.”

We love to be given a second chance but do not want to give second chances. As always, God was patiently waiting even when innocent newborn sons of the Israelites were casted in to the river . While the king was making his own wicked decision, God was making His own plans. Our wrong deeds does not stop God from accomplishing His will. 

Exodus 2:5 “No ordinary person did God choose, but the king’s daughter who found the baby Moses by the river. Continuously, God was making plans.”  

Bringing this to our LEADERS today, before you point a finger of blame to God saying He predestined you to be evil and bad, that’s why you are the way you are. First note that the enemy will be excited to see you occupied mentally by yourself and blaming God for creating you that way. I see this as a means that will stop you from doing what is right. Have you stopped to question yourself about your negative action and its effect on you and people around you?

Remember, God treasures every soul and He wants us to see the treasure He has for each life He has given or created. The question is, what is life worth to you? That you would prefer or like that which kills the body, mind, and soul rather than what will nourish you to a life of good health of body, mind, and soul.

 Lack of knowledge 

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Why make decisions that will send you faster to your death just like the king and his subject in the Bible( Exodus 14), telling death you do not treasure your life and the life of  another because you are overwhelmed by the things of the world.

 A world you have come to meet, a life you never asked for but yet see it as an opportunity to diligently make it less painful and more peaceful for you and the people around you. That is honorable for a creature , created by a great God.

There is a fine line between the animalistic way of human beings and the spiritual. Find your balance.

We cannot continue to run to the negative ideas in our head as the first choice of action or solution etc. to anything we come across or when we see something big in numbers, strength, something productive and helpful but we do not understand, mysterious etc. We must confront with positivity at all cost from the onset, not negativity. 

A lot of people are like the king till this very day in LEADERSHIP, and it’s very common in all sectors. This is passed on from one generation to another and somehow these lies become their true perception or way of life for other generation. They are so swift in solving problems negatively. 

But lets see what the book of proverbs says about a real king . proverb 16:10 , proverbs 16:12, proverb 16: 32.

God honors those who act with integrity in all aspects of life, whether in leadership or during difficult decision-making. Before making any choice, we must ask ourselves: Where is our honor? Where does our integrity lie in this situation?

This question is crucial because, often, even in our most challenging moments and amidst our own shortcomings, God acts based on His own honor and integrity towards us. In the book of Psalm 106:8 and Isaiah 48:9-11, we see evidence of His unwavering commitment to righteousness.

Consider how many times we’ve silently or aloud resolved that, for the sake of the One who created us and His honor, we will act justly. We also bear the responsibility of representing our families and future generations, ensuring that our actions uphold our name.

Neglect or negative actions displayed, reveal our lack of honor and integrity, not only to ourselves but also to our Creator. God, as the true King, will act justly to safeguard His name. The consequences of our negligence towards our responsibilities may adversely affect us, serving as our punishment for failing in our responsibilities. 

I pray we look at our role in all aspect of our life with honor and safeguard our name positively as we are ambassadors for Christ (truth) , showing what true leadership as a king should be on earth…amen.
