The Greatest Enemy

We ultimately are our greatest enemy, because man ate of the fruit of good and evil when the capacity to will good and evil was not given. This disobedience caused a seal to be broken, hence the origin of humanity was altered, leaving us vulnerable to things we know, but cannot understand; bad things we know but cannot fight off. Disobedience is an act where a law from a higher power is flouted. In our world today, when we break a law, we are more or less unaffected by it, but with God, every act of disobedience has a great price the offender surely pays. God’s law or command was created to save man from the unknown, and also from the certain responsibilities man isn’t equipped to handle. The act of sin and disobedience to God’s words has made man lawless.
Proverbs 25:28 says: “A person that has no law guiding his spirit is like a forgotten flower left to fade away or for strangers to trade on as they please.”

Proverbs 14:12 KJV
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Proverbs 16:5 KJV
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
When your heart is devoid of God’s love – His laws & wisdom – you’re like a time bomb waiting to explode or self destruct. The heart of a lawless man is deceitful even to one’s self because his heart has not been circumcised by God’s love (laws,) this makes him a danger to himself. No wonder Eve was a victim, because she desired what she didn’t understand, and paid the price of the unknown. If only they had asked God for the knowledge about the tree and its importance, MAYBE knowledge would have driven desire away. It’s sad to say, however, that they did not fear or love GOD enough to do his will. I do not know the nature of Adam nor the mindset GOD willed, but from the biblical account, knowledge, and understanding was not given, and the mindset to ask God, they had not. MAYBE if they had asked God.

1 Peter 1:22-25 KJV
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: [23] Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. [24] For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: [25] But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

 1 Peter 2:11 KJV
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Hebrews 10:26-31 KJV
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, [27] But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. [28] He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: [29] Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? [30] For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. [31] It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

 “To be without God’s laws is wickedness to the soul because lawlessness is a sin.”
You were created with freewill to act on anything, but the freewill comes with responsibility. This responsibility will preserve your soul forever to eternal life.

1 John 2:15-17 KJV
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
The primary principle to step out from lawlessness and overcome your greatest enemy is by destroying IGNORANCE with a pursuit of knowledge, wisdom & understanding.
Proverbs 4:7-9 KJV
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. [8] Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. [9] She shall give b to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

The most powerful enemy of mankind is IGNORANCE; our failure to be enlightened has caused us a lot of failures in life.

Hosea 4:6 KJV:
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
The saying “What you don’t know can’t kill you,” is simply not true. Sometimes we suffer loss because we did not take the opportunity to search and learn the facts about a particular subject, hence we perish because of IGNORANCE. Quoting Dr. Myles, he says “Our ignorance of God’s will and His ways have twisted our world. We devalue what God values, and elevate what is insignificant to him. ”

The pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding is the first step to get rid of the enemy.

Proverbs 1:20-33 KJV says:
Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: [21] She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying , [22] How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? [23] Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. [24] Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; [25] But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: [26] I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; [27] When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. [28] Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: [29] For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord : [30] They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. [31] Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. [32] For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. [33] But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet af from fear of evil.

Proverbs 2:2-10 KJV says:

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; [3] Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; [4] If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; [5] Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord , and find the knowledge of God. [6] For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. [7] He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. [8] He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. [9] Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea , every good path. [10] When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

To yield a good result, you must add effort. Knowledge and effort must co-exist to create foundational success. Why do we seek to have knowledge, wisdom, and understanding? We seek to know God so we would know why he has called us to keep his laws.

Proverbs 3:13-26 KJV says:
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. [14] For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. [15] She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. [16] Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. [17] Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. [18] She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. [19] The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. [20] By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. [21] My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: [22] So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. [23] Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. [24] When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. [25] Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. [26] For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

We must seek it like a treasure that is precious to us. To touch God’s knowledge, we need diligence and exertion.

Proverbs 23:12 KJV says:
Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. Proverbs 2:6-10, Proverbs 2:1-5.

When we are filled with (K, W, U) we will act in line with God’s laws then understand his will and purpose for us.

The consequences of neglecting God’s (K, W, U) destroys our world from generation to generation because we have rejected the only hope of securing life eternally. This rejection has caused human disasters like HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, environmental issues, and commodified sex. If you feed your spirit the information you get from your educational background, through the sense of your organs, neglecting God’s wisdom and knowledge, you will only see life from worldly perspectives.

 Lawlessness is the freedom man craves for in our world today. Freedom to ethnic, social groups, religion, etc; but nothing is free. We are free to do what we want, be where we want, do it how we want, and with whom we want, but freedom always comes at a price. The consequences of freedom from God’s laws will surely lead to the bondage of evil & death. When we disregard these laws, we would have to bear the results of our actions; we cannot choose otherwise, because the consequences of rejecting God’s laws, is rejecting His love for us as our CREATOR. His command is given for our own benefit. There are several misguided conceptions or world ideologies about LAWs. This is as a result of our dependence only on worldly rationalization about anything. Some of these misguided lies are

1.) Law Restrict
2.) Law Apprehend
3.) Law Inhibit
4.) Law Takes

This ideology affects our relationship with God, making it difficult to relate effectively with God’s laws. When God tells us in his commandment: ”thou shall not...” We usually see it as his way of taking the fun out of our lives and limiting our freedom to do whatever we want. In our minds, even with the knowledge of the truth about the law, we still see it as a restraint on us. The most challenging misconception about the law is our inability to grow from thinking that it prevents us from receiving the best things of life, especially when what we want defies a given law but we can’t help but want it. For example, a man who seeks a wife from a non-Christian home sideline the facts in God’s law as written in 2 Cor. 6:14. God’s laws restrict negative responses from us so we could be saved from ourselves. We can’t have what we want if it’s not in line with God’s law, but if we seek the spirit of God (TRUTH,) He will tell us why and give us the capacity to comprehend.

Galatians 5:16-26 KJV says:
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. [17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. [18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. [19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. [25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [26] Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

For this reason, God saw a need to bring His word that is TRUE and LIVING to his children; this word needed a vessel to carry out God’s command so that He could be sacrificed to eliminate darkness (FALSEHOOD).  What greater, unblemished and worthy being could live and bring true righteousness to God’s people?
God spoke through the prophet Isaiah of how we are in darkness and lack true knowledge. (Isa 42:6-7, Isa 42:16-23, Eph 4:17-19).
When you see the need to fall under God’s love (law,) do well to hide and equip yourself for the battle we have to fight every day to overcome self, sin and the devil in

Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV says:
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places . [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; [15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: [18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The greatest way to destroy someone is to distract the person from its true purpose. We individually, sin and the devil play a major role in this area. I know it’s not easy to introspect our lives, but it is the first necessary step if we are going to rediscover our true purpose in life.
